Orange City Council is developing a five-year Economic Development Strategy and Action Plan to guide and support economic and employment growth into the future.
Council is working with SGS Economics and The Planning Studio to develop the strategy.
Economic Development Community Committee Chair Cr Tony Mileto said the Orange region was home to a diverse and vibrant economy but planning was essential to ensure that was maintained and enhanced into the future.
“The first step we are taking is to engage with the Orange community to better understand your aspirations for the future and to identify strengths and weaknesses,” Cr Mileto said.

GROWTH: The new Economic Development Strategy and Action Plan will guide and support economic and employment growth into the future.
It will be open for comment until the new year.
It asks questions about how businesses can be best supported, what role Orange City Council should play and tests perceptions about what is driving the economy now.
“This survey provides an opportunity for the Orange community to share their experiences and perspectives,” Cr Mileto said.
“The survey will take approximately five minutes to complete and will shape the strategic directions and ideas to guide the future of the local economy of Orange.
“We want this Strategy and Action Plan to reflect the diversity of the community and therefore encourage you to share your experiences and perspectives on what you think are the local economic strengths, weaknesses and opportunities.”
Following the online engagement, face-to-face targeted workshops will be conducted in the new year.
