Play in Garden Family Fun Day to celebrate National Playgroup Week

The City of Greater Bendigo and local community organisations are again celebrating National Playgroup Week with a Play in the Garden family day at Garden for the Future, Bendigo Botanic Gardens in White Hills on Tuesday March 22 from 10am to 1pm.

This is a free community event featuring children’s activities including music and entertainment, an animal farm and pony rides, bubble play, balloon sculpting, circus activities, art and craft activities and story time sessions.

There will be free fresh fruit and sausages and veggie burgers will be available to purchase for only $2. Water will be available from Coliban Water’s portable water station and coffee will also be available.

City of Greater Bendigo Community Wellbeing Manager Richie Evans said National Playgroup Week celebrates the importance of playgroups in the community.

“Playgroups are an important community resource. They provide young children with a fun, stimulating play environment where they can enhance their language, problem-solving and social skills in preparation for preschool and primary school,” Mr Evans said.

“They are also an important social activity for parents and carers because they provide opportunities to meet new people and share their experiences and ideas on raising children.

“The Play in the Garden Fun Day is a great day and we are looking forward to seeing lots of local families enjoying the fun and activities so bring along a drink bottle and hat and come along to discover what Greater Bendigo playgroups and early year’s services can offer local children and families.”

The event is presented by the City of Greater Bendigo with support from Kiwanis.

Please note a proof of vaccination certificate is required for participants over 18 years old to attend.
