Another six play-spaces will be upgraded next Dry Season as part of City of Darwin’s Playground Revitalisation program.
While our play Space Strategy is still in draft form, the principles contained in it helped inform the tender brief for the upgrades.
The upgrades will see each play-space receive new play equipment, a soft-fall area and shade.
The play-spaces earmarked for upgrades were identified through the 2022/23 Municipal Plan.
In December 2021, City of Darwin undertook an ‘inform’ level process of community consultation with local residents regarding the upgrades.
The parks to be upgraded are:
- Harwood Park, Nakara
- Bald Park, Alawa
- Thornton Park, Moil
- Killian Park, Jingili
- Eaton Park, Karama
- Lores Bonney Park, Parap
Works on the upgrades are scheduled for completion by the end of June 2023.
City of Darwin’s Play Space Strategy is expected to go to Council in the first quarter of 2023.
