A woman has been charged with murder following the death of a man on the Stuart Highway in the state’s far north earlier this week.
Major Crime and Far North Local Service Area investigators are appealing for any driver who may have been on the highway between 3.30pm on Wednesday (13 February) and 12.45am on Thursday to check their dashcam footage as they may have vision which is of assistance in the inquiry.
In particular, detectives who are investigating the death of the man at De Rose Hill (in the APY Lands, about 35km south of the Northern Territory border), are interested in any footage of a 1991 silver Toyota Camry sedan (South Australia registration VFB-765). Police are also interested to hear from anyone who may have seen this vehicle in the area.
A woman, who is believed to have been the driver of this vehicle, was arrested and charged with aggravated causing death by dangerous driving, driving an unregistered vehicle and driving without a licence.
Police allege the 38-year-old from the APY Lands deliberately ran the man over and today she was also charged with murder.
The victim was located by an intestate truck driver, and police are keen to hear from any other motorists who may have witnessed the incident, or saw a vehicle matching the description driving erratically on the Stuart Highway between the Erldunda Road House in the Northern Territory and De Rose Hill on the Stuart Highway, South Australia.
