Detectives from the Arson and Explosives Squad are today releasing CCTV and appealing for information following two arson attacks at a Moonee Ponds tobacco store earlier this year.
Emergency services were called about 3.05am on Tuesday 23 May and 1.35am on Friday 26 May following reports of smouldering and loud bangs at the Young Street premise.
In both incidents, the roller door had been pulled up and flammable liquid thrown inside.
No one was present at the business when it was set on fire and nobody was physically injured during any of the attacks, but the building sustained minor damage.
Police are today releasing images and CCTV of the incidents the hope someone may recognise the man involved.
In the 23 May incident, a man dressed in black trackpants and a black hoodie approaches the exterior of the business on foot.
He forces the shutter door open with a crowbar, before setting a small explosive alight and throwing it inside.
He then flees in a waiting dark coloured Volkswagen sedan.
In the 26 May incident, a man wearing a camouflage hoodie, black Adidas track pants and boots can be seen getting out of a Holden Cruze sedan with cloned plates.
He forces the roller door up with a pry bar and a brick, before setting flammable liquid alight and throwing it in the door.
He also sets himself alight in the process, before fleeing the scene in the waiting vehicle.
Investigators believe the two fires are linked to a series of arson attacks on tobacco stores dating back to March this year.
Detectives are looking into a range of motivations for these fires and links to a range of organised crime syndicates.
Police are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed any of these incidents, who recognises those involved or has further information about any of the incidents and the parties involved.
