Westgate Highway Patrol officers are investigating following a truck crash in Werribee this evening (19 April).
It is understood the truck, described as a white 2018 Fuso, was travelling along the Princes Freeway about 8.10pm before taking a last-minute turn at the Duncans Road exit.
As a result, it crashed into a number of signs before coming to a stop in a construction site.
The driver fled the scene before emergency services arrived.
Police are yet to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the incident and the investigation is ongoing.
The truck has sustained extensive damage and police believe the driver may have injuries as a result.
