Detectives from the Armed Crime Squad are appealing for witnesses after a man was found with a gunshot wound in Frankston North last night.
Emergency services were called after the man was located on Armata Crescent about 7.20pm.
A 36-year-old Dandenong man was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Police have cordoned off the area and a crime scene has been established.
The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident remains ongoing.
