Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal collision in Lara last night.
It is understood a utility and a car collided on the Geelong Ring Road about 11.20pm.
A passenger from the utility, who is yet to be formally identified, died at the scene.
The driver of the utility was taken to hospital, where they remain under police guard.
The driver, and sole occupant, of the car was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
The exact circumstances surrounding the collision are yet to be established.
Police have established a crime scene and have closed the Geelong Ring Road at Lara.
The investigation remains ongoing.
