Major Collision Unit detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal collision in Port Melbourne this afternoon.
Emergency services were called to the car v motorcycle collision at the intersection of Williamstown and Beacon roads just after 1.10pm.
The motorcycle rider, a yet to be formally identified man, sadly died at the scene.
The male driver of the car was not injured.
The exact circumstances surrounding the collision are yet to be determined.
The road will be closed for an extended period and road users should avoid the area.
