Northern Territory Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred this morning on the Arnhem Highway, approximately 1.5 kilometres east of Lambells Lagoon Road intersection.
Emergency services were called to the scene just after 6am, following reports of a collision involving two vehicles.
Upon arrival, one of the drivers was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle has been taken hospital having suffered non- life threatening injuries.
Detective Senior Sergeant Brendan Lindner said, “Major Crash detectives are on site and investigating the circumstances of this head-on crash between two utilities.
“The Arnhem Highway remains fully closed as police and firefighters work to extract and recover the deceased.”
Police are urging all motorists to defer any travel on the Arnhem Highway today and avoid the area. A traffic diversion is expected to be opened by midday; however, motorists should anticipate lengthy delays. Please avoid any non-essential travel until later today.
