A 12-year-old girl has died after a car rolled near Cooktown this afternoon.
Around 6pm, a Nissan sedan was travelling east along Railway Avenue East Cooktown when it left the road and rolled.
Members of the public rendered first aid to the young girl prior to arrival of emergency services. She died on scene a short time later.
A 44-year-old man driving the vehicle was not physically injured.
Crash investigators are appealing to anyone who witnessed the crash to come forward.
