Police Arrest Driver At Seacombe Gardens

A man was arrested after a police pursuit in the southern suburbs this evening.

A concerned motorist contacted police after observing a white Ford sedan driving erratically on Anzac Highway, Plympton about 6.45pm on Tuesday 13 August.

A motorcycle officer picked up the vehicle within minutes as it headed south along Marion Road, however, when he indicated for it to pull over, it took off.

PolAir was called in to assist and tracked the car as it sped south along Dyson Road, Christies Beach. The Ford continue to drive at speed and weave through traffic along the Southern Expressway before it was abandoned in Doradilla Avenue, Seacombe Gardens and patrols swooped on the driver.

The 33-year-old Elizabeth Vale man was arrested and charged with traffic offences, including extreme speed, driving in a manner dangerous to the public and evade a police pursuit. He was also wanted for other matters, including breach of bail, theft and an outstanding warrant.

He was refused police bail and will appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court tomorrow, Wednesday 14 August.

The vehicle was impounded and towed from the scene and the driver will be issued with an instant loss of licence.
