Police arrest five teens after aggravated burglaries

Southern Metro Crime Team detectives have charged five teens following a series of aggravated burglaries throughout the eastern and southern suburbs.

Police located an allegedly stolen BMW, which had been stolen from an aggravated burglary in Mount Evelyn, in Benghazi Avenue, Ashburton around 11.30am.

Police conducted surveillance and observed a second alleged stolen BMW, which had been stolen from Mount Martha, arrive and park in Tobruk Avenue, Ashburton around 2.15pm.

Three offenders from this car entered an apartment on Lancaster Street.

A short time later, two offenders returned to the first BMW and drove to a nearby fast-food outlet in Warrigal Road.

Police followed the BMW and arrested two 16-year-old boys.

Police then attended the apartment on Lancaster Street and arrested three 17-year-old boys.

A 16-year-old boy from Noble Park has been charged with aggravated burglary and theft of motor vehicle.

A 16-year-old boy from Wheelers Hill has been charged with theft of motor car and commit indictable offence whilst on bail. He has been remanded to appear at a Children’s Court at a later date.

A 17-year-old from Carrum Downs has been charged with aggravated burglary, attempted aggravated burglary, theft of motor vehicle, commit indictable offence whilst on bail and unlicensed driving. He has been remanded to appear at a Children’s Court at a later date.

A 17-year-old from Ferntree Gully has been charged with aggravated burglary, attempted aggravated burglary, theft of motor vehicle, theft, commit indictable offence whilst on bail and unlicensed driving. He has been remanded to appear at a Children’s Court at a later date.

A 17-year-old from Dandenong North has been charged with theft of motor vehicle and was bailed to appear at a Children’s Court at a later date.
