Police arrest four in drugs and cash seized during bikie warrants

Detectives from the Echo Taskforce, Cobram Crime Investigation Unit and the Australian Federal Police located drugs, cash and an imitation firearm during a number of warrants executed late last week as part of an ongoing investigation into drug trafficking linked to the Mongols Outlaw Motor Cycle Gang (OMCG).

Search warrants were executed in Cobram on a residential premises and two storage units, while a Firearm Prohibition Order (FPO) compliance search was conducted at a further residential address and storage unit.

They subsequently seized a quantity of cocaine, cash and an imitation firearm, as well as steroids and firearm parts.

An 18-year-old man was arrested and charged with possess drug of dependence, negligently deal with the proceeds of crime, possess imitation firearm and possess ammunition.

He was bailed to face Cobram Magistrates’ Court on 19 January, 2022.

A 28-year-old Cobram man, who is a patched member of the Mongols OMCG, was charged with traffick drug of dependence, possess imitation firearm, possess ammunition, possess proceeds of crime, possess firearm part in contravention of a FPO and possess steroids.

He was bailed to appear at Cobram Magistrates’ Court on 22 December.

A 21-year-old Cobram man was charged with traffick drug of dependence and commit an indictable offence while on bail.

He was remanded and faced Shepparton Magistrates’ Court on 8 October where he was bailed to re-appear on 6 December.

A 70-year-old Cobram woman was arrested and interviewed regarding negligently deal with the proceeds of crime and possess cartridge ammunition.

She was released pending further enquiries.

Last week’s warrants form part of an operation targeting drug trafficking linked to the Mongols OMCG in northern Victoria.

In July, police arrested 12 people and seized large quantities of drugs of dependence, firearms, designer clothes, jewellery and watches believed to be valued at about $1M, cash and steroids.

The investigation remains ongoing.
