Police arrest man after clan lab found at Burton

A man has been arrested after a clandestine laboratory was found at Burton.

Police will allege that about 10pm on Tuesday 19 July, detectives from SAPOL’s Serious and Organised Crime Branch (SOCB) searched a house on Waterloo Corner Road.

At the property officers found an operating clan lab concealed inside a shipping container.

A 40-year-old Burton man was arrested for manufacture a controlled drug and possess prescribed equipment.

He has been bailed to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on 30 August.

Forensic officers and SOCB detectives are expected to remain at the property throughout today (Wednesday 19 July) as they process and dismantle the clan lab.

Detective Superintendent Billy Thompson, officer in charge of SOCB says, “The dangers associated with clandestine drug laboratories are significant and can place those in the close vicinity at high risk. The illicit drugs produced in these backyard makeshift labs are highly dangerous and can cause untold harm to users. Those criminals who operate clan labs have no care for the harm they cause.”
