A man has been arrested following a pursuit and crash in Sydney’s Inner West this morning.
Just after 6.20am (Saturday 5 February 2021), Traffic and Highway Patrol officers attempted to stop a Subaru Outback on Parramatta Road, Leichhardt.
The Subaru failed to stop, and a pursuit was initiated before being terminated shortly after due to safety concerns.
A short time later, the Subaru collided with five vehicles on Parramatta Road, near the intersection of Old Canterbury Road.
Police responded and assisted the occupants of the vehicles. They were treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics, with two people taken to hospital.
The Subaru driver was arrested and taken to St George Hospital, under police guard. He will also undergo mandatory testing.
A crime scene has been established as inquiries are conducted into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Parramatta Road is currently closed in both directions – between Liverpool Road and Flood Street – with local traffic diversions in place. Motorists are advised to avoid the area.
