A 39 year old Port Sorell man has been arrested and charged for allegedly driving a motor vehicle with an alcohol reading in excess of six times the legal limit.
Police were called to Bain Terrace, Trevallyn, around 1.20 p.m. today, where members of the public had taken possession of a man’s keys after he was involved in a crash with a parked vehicle. No one was injured during the incident.
Police attended and the man was taken into custody, conveyed to the Launceston Police Station where he submitted to a breath analysis returning a reading of 0.325%.
The man has been bailed to appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court in October on charges of driving under the Influence of intoxicating liquor and exceeding 0.05%.
The man was also issued with a Road Safety Disqualification notice disqualifying him from driving for a period of 12 months.
Tasmania police wish to thank those members of the public for their quick actions that prevented the man from leaving the area.
