A man has been arrested following an aggravated attempted car jacking in Malvern this afternoon.
It’s alleged the man approached the occupants of a stationary late model black 4WD at a red traffic light at the intersection of Station Street and Dandenong Road just before 12.30pm.
Officers from the Critical Incident Response Team arrested the 32-year-old man at Malvern Railway Station just after 1pm.
The Frankston man is currently assisting police with their enquiries.
Detectives from Stonnington Crime Investigation Unit are appealing for witnesses to the incident or any drivers who may have dashcam footage in the area at the time to come forward.
In particular, detectives are hoping to hear from the occupants of the black 4WD that the man approached while they were stationary at the red traffic light.
Detectives are also appealing for a man and woman who were walking through the pedestrian underpass at Princes Highway and Station Street just prior to the attempted car jacking to come forward.
