A southern suburbs man has been arrested following a police pursuit overnight in the western suburbs and a series of petrol thefts.
Just before 1am on Monday 8 April, a police patrol spotted a dark coloured Ford Falcon travelling at a fast rate south on Tapleys Hill Road at Seaton.
A short time later a southern district patrol tried to stop the same car on James Melrose Drive at Glenelg North at the back of the airport, but the pursuit was terminated.
A search by patrols in the Plympton area and a few further sightings, located the Ford sedan dumped at South Plympton.
While searching for the driver in the area, a police patrol had cause to stop another vehicle and speak to the driver. A search of that car located the suspect driver from the pursuit in the boot of the car.
A 25-year-old man from the southern suburbs has been arrested and charged with engaging a police pursuit, driving while disqualified, driving with false plates and numerous counts of theft after enquiries revealed he was wanted for several petrol thefts over recent days.
The arrested man has been refused police and will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court later today.
There were no injuries and no damage to any vehicles in the incident.
