Police arrest teens after crime series investigation

Following an investigation by Western District Detectives, two teenage girls have been arrested in connection with a crime series which commenced in October last year.

Police will allege on Sunday 30 October, three teenage girls flagged down a ride share driver who drove them to a service station on Grange Road, Flinders Park, when one of them attempted to steal his vehicle. The driver fled into the services station where he was followed by two of the girls where he was then threatened with a pair of scissors and demanded his car keys. The driver was able to flee the area. The two girls then allegedly threatened staff and demanded their car keys before fleeing on foot with a number of stolen food items. The girls also caused damage to the entry/exit door as they left.

Then on Thursday 8 December, three teenage girls entered a liquor store at Blair Athol and allegedly stole a number of bottles of alcohol.

On Tuesday 10 January, two teenage girls entered a service station on the corner of Henley Beach and Tapleys Hill Roads, Fulham Gardens and allegedly threatened staff with spray cans before leaving on foot with cigarettes and food items.

Then on Thursday 12 January, two teenage girls entered a supermarket on Grange Road, Findon and allegedly tried to steal two electric scooters. Staff confronted the pair and one of the girls then produced a pair of scissors and threatened staff before also spitting at them. The girls then fled on foot empty handed.

Police attended a Flinders Park address a short time later and arrested a 13 and a 16-year-old girl, both from Valley View.

The 13-year-old was charged with two counts of aggravated robbery (Flinders Park and Fulham Gardens), two counts of attempted aggravated robbery (Flinders Park and Findon), attempted illegal interference (Flinders Park), two counts of theft (Flinders Park and Fulham Gardens), property damage (Flinders Park) and three counts of breach of bail. The 16-year-old was charged with attempted aggravated robbery (Findon) and two counts of breach of bail.

Both girls were refused police bail and appeared in the Adelaide Youth Court today where they were granted court bail to reappear on 3 February.

Thankfully none of the victims were physically injured and investigations are continuing.
