A man and two women have been arrested following a violent disturbance at Port Augusta overnight.
Just before 10pm on Tuesday 19 February, police were called to a home in Beerworth Street, following a domestic related disturbance involving a man allegedly breaching an intervention order .
On patrols arrival, they spoke with a 32-year-old man who was aggressive towards police and under the influence of alcohol.
Police attempted to arrest the man but he resisted. Two woman from the home also affected by alcohol then started to hinder the arrest and assault the officers involved by throwing punches.
Police were forced to use capsicum spray to avoid being further assaulted, while the man was tasered by a patrol to bring him under control.
Further patrols were required to assist in the arrest of both woman in the street, who continued to assault officers by punching and spitting.
The 32-year-old man from Port Augusta was charged with breaching an intervention order, aggravated assault police, hindering police and resisting arrest. While two women aged 43 and 34-years-old both from Port Augusta were arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated assault police, hindering police and resisting arrest.
The man arrested has been refused police bail and will appear in the Port Augusta Magistrates Court later today, while the two woman have both been bailed to appear in the court at later date.
Five police officers were treated for superficial cuts and abrasions at the local hospital but all released after treatment.
