A woman has been arrested after allegedly assaulting police at the scene of a fire at South Wentworthville last night.
About 9.30pm (Tuesday 11 June 2019), emergency services were called to the rear granny flat of a home on Centenary Road and arrived to find it well alight.
The blaze was extinguished, and no one was injured. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Checks revealed a 37-year-old woman at the premises had two outstanding warrants for assault, resisting police, intimidating police, and making vexatious phone calls.
It’s alleged when police tried to arrest her, the woman scratched one officer and kicked another several times.
She was brought under control and taken to Westmead Hospital for minor smoke inhalation.
Whilst at the hospital it’s further alleged the woman spat in the face of another officer.
The woman was discharged from hospital and taken to Granville Police Station where she was charged with three counts of assault officer in execution of duty. Her warrants were also executed.
She was refused bail to appear before Fairfield Local Court today (Wednesday 12 June 2019).
