A driver has been arrested after a pedestrian was seriously injured following a crash at Marrickville.
Just before 11.30am yesterday (Saturday 3 August 2019), emergency services were called to Petersham Road, Marrickville, after reports of a crash.
Police have been told, a red Holden Astra hit a parked car, struck a female pedestrian, and crashed into a parked utility, causing it to catch alight.
The male driver of the Holden ran off and was pursued for a short time by a witness before fleeing.
Officers from Inner West Police Area Command attended and established a crime scene.
The pedestrian, a 52-year-old woman, sustained serious leg injuries. She was treated and taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in a stable condition.
Following inquiries, a 28-year-old man was arrested on a train at Belmore Railway Station. He was subjected to a roadside breath test, returning a positive result.
He was taken to Campsie Police Station where he returned an alleged breath analysis reading of 0.090.
The Petersham man was charged with drive conveyance taken without consent of owner, drive motor vehicle while licence suspended, dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm – drive under the influence, negligent driving (occasioning grievous bodily harm), fail to stop and assist after vehicle impact causing grievous bodily harm, fail to stop and assist after impact cause injury, not give particulars to injured person, drive with mid-range PCA, and goods in personal custody suspected being stolen.
He was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Bail Court today (Sunday 4 August 2019).
