Police charge four over police pursuits in Northern Rivers

Four people have been charged following several police pursuits and allegedly threatening motorists with a replica pistol in the state’s Northern Rivers region.

About 11.25am yesterday (Sunday 3 November 2019), police from Traffic & Highway Patrol observed an allegedly stolen white Toyota Camry – with Queensland registration plates – travelling south along Hinterland Way, Ewingsdale, in an erratic manner.

A pursuit was initiated with a passenger allegedly pointing a replica pistol at police.

The pursuit was terminated due to safety concerns.

It’s further alleged the vehicle continued onto the Pacific Highway, Knockrow, and crossed to the wrong side of the road, pointing the replica pistol at passing motorists.

An approaching police vehicle initiated a second pursuit which was again terminated due to safety concerns.

A short time later, police attached to Richmond Police District were called to a property at Pimlico Road, Pimlico, following reports the vehicle had been abandoned.

Richmond PD officers and NSW Police Dog Unit established a perimeter, with four offenders – two women, one man and a 15-year-old teenage boy – arrested in nearby bushland.

All four were taken to Lismore Police Station and charged with several offences.

A 25-year-old man has been charged with nine offences, including in company assault with intent to rob while armed with a dangerous weapon, police pursuit – not stop – drive recklessly, take & drive conveyance without consent of owner and drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous. He was refused bail to face Lismore Local Court today (Monday 4 November 2019).

Two 18-year-old women have been charged with in company assault with intent to rob while armed with a dangerous weapon, be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner and possess unauthorised pistol. Both were refused bail to face Lismore Local Court today (Monday 4 November 2019).

A 15-year-old boy has been charged with in company assault with intent to rob while armed with a dangerous weapon and be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner. He was refused bail to appear at a children’s court today (Monday 4 November 2019).
