A man has been charged following a lengthy pursuit in the state’s Central Tablelands.
About 9.30pm on Friday (1 May 2020), officers attached to Chifley Highway Patrol attempted to stop a blue Hyundai i30 on William Street, Bathurst, for the purpose of a random breath test.
The vehicle failed to stop, and a pursuit was initiated, travelling though several townships on the Castlereagh Highway.
Police deployed road spikes in Cullen Bullen and the Hyundai came to a stop on the side of the road.
The driver fled the location and was pursued by foot into nearby paddock, where a short struggle ensued, he was arrested and taken to Bathurst Police Station.
The 27-year-old man was charged with police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously (Skye’s law), drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous, drive motor vehicle during disqualification period and resist officer in execution of duty.
He was bailed refused to appear at Lithgow Local Court on Thursday 7 May 2020.
