A man has been charged following a crash in the state’s south.
About 2.20am yesterday (Monday 30 September 2024), emergency services were called to the Hume Highway, Paddy’s River, about 25km north-west of Bundanoon, following reports of a car fire.
Officers attached to The Hume Police District responded and found a Toyota Hilux had gone down an embankment and was alight.
Fire and Rescue NSW attended and extinguished the blaze; however the car was destroyed.
Officers located a man climbing up the embankment nearby and arrested him at the scene.
NSW Ambulance treated the man for hand injuries. He was transported to Liverpool Hospital under police guard.
About 12.30pm yesterday, the 45-year-old man was conveyed to Liverpool Police Station where he was charged with drive conveyance taken without consent of owner, drive motor vehicle during disqualification period and negligent driving (no death or grievous bodily harm and breach of bail.
He was refused bail to appear in Liverpool Local Court today (Tuesday 1 October 2024).
Police will allege the car was stolen from Botany Road, Waterloo, around 1.30am yesterday
