Police charge man after home invasion at Waterloo

A man has been charged following a home invasion in Waterloo last week.

About 2.30am on Friday 9 February 2024, emergency services were called to a unit on George Street, Waterloo, following reports of a home invasion.

On arrival, officers attached to South Sydney Police Area Command were told two males and a female had entered the unit and threatened the occupants with an axe before stealing items and leaving.

There have been no reports of injuries.

Police established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Following inquiries, a 35-year-old man was arrested at a park in Redfern, shortly after 12.15pm on Thursday 15February 2024.

The man was taken to Mascot Police Station and was charged with aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence, two counts of custody of a knife in a public place, hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty, two counts of goods in personal custody suspected being stolen, possess housebreaking implements, possess prohibited drug, and commit s114 offence having previous conviction.

He was bail refused to appear before Downing Centre Local Court today (Friday 16 February 2024).
