Springvale police have charged a 40-year-old man following a series of incidents involving erratic driving in Melbourne’s south-east yesterday.
It is alleged a black Holden sedan was driving erratically in the car park of a convenience store at the corner of Douglas Parade and Heatherton Road in Noble Park at about 6pm.
The vehicle allegedly collided with several parked cars, and the driver then drove into the adjoining supermarket carpark where members of the public tried to stop him.
Police attempted to intercept the vehicle and the driver allegedly failed to pull over.
A pursuit was initiated at low speed through the carpark and out onto Heatherton Road.
The offender collided into another police car on Heatherton Road, causing the Holden to come to rest against a tree.
Police were forced to smash the car window and OC spray was deployed before the man was arrested.
No injuries were sustained to members of the public or police.
A Murrumbeena man was taken to hospital where he remains with non-life-threatening injuries.
He has been charged with six counts of assaulting/resisting police, dangerous driving whilst being pursued, conduct endangering, drive manner dangerous, fail to stop and fail to exchange details.
He will appear at Dandenong Magistrates’ Court at a later date.
