A man has been charged following a pursuit in Sydney’s west.
About 3:20pm today (Saturday 23 November 2024), police attempted to stop a grey Porsche Cayenne, after witnessing it speeding on Cabramatta Road West, Cabramatta.
When the driver allegedly failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated by officers attached to Fairfield Highway Patrol Command.
It was terminated due to safety concerns.
A short time later, police found the vehicle in High Street, Cabramatta, where it had crashed into a grey Lexus.
The driver, a 52-year-old man, allegedly ran from the scene but was arrested a short time later following a short foot pursuit.
A second man, a passenger in the Porsche fled the scene.
The driver of the Lexus, a 66-year-old man suffered minor injuries and was taken to Liverpool Hospital in a stable condition.
Checks on the driver revealed he has been disqualified from 23/11/2005 to 11/10/2041.
He was taken to Fairfield Police Station where he was charged with eight offences:
Police pursuit – not stop – drive recklessly
Drive motor vehicle during disqualification period (second offence)
Goods in custody suspected being stolen.
Unlawfully possess number plates
Exceed speed > 30km/h
Unregistered vehicle.
Uninsured vehicle
Use class A vehicle with unauthorised number plate affixed.
The man was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court on Sunday (24 November 2024.)
