A man will face court following an alleged break and enter and pursuit on the state’s Mid North Coast.
About 7.25am today (Wednesday 18 September 2024), officers attached to Traffic and Highway Patrol Command were patrolling the Pacific Highway, Coonpernook, when they attempted stop a black Jaguar sedan.
It is believed the vehicle was stolen from an address in Port Macquarie about 6.50am today.
When the vehicle failed to stop, a pursuit was initiated.
The pursuit continued through Oxley Bend Road, Cundletown, where road spikes were successfully deployed.
A short time later, the vehicle stopped near the intersection of Princes Street, where the 30-year-old male driver was arrested.
He was subjected to roadside drug test, and allegedly returned a positive result.
He was taken to Taree Police Station where a sample of oral fluid was collected for further analysis, and allegedly returned a positive result.
He was charged with aggravated enter dwelling with intention – knowing people there, police pursuit – not stop- drive dangerously, drive motor vehicle during disqualification period, drive vehicle, illicit drug present in blood etc and take & drive conveyance without consent of owner.
He was refused bail to appear at Taree Local Court today (Wednesday 18 September 2024) where he was refused bail to appear at Port Macquarie Local Court on Thursday (28 November 2024).
