Investigators from the Bendigo and Campaspe crime investigation units have charged a man following a string of alleged burglaries, thefts and driving offences across central and northern Victoria this month.
Uniform and highway patrol officers, with assistance from the Dog Squad and Air Wing, attempted to intercept a vehicle yesterday (21 October) after it was seen driving erratically around Echuca and the surrounding area.
The driver allegedly failed to stop for police.
A 29-year-old man of no fixed place of address later presented himself to Echuca Police Station.
He has since been charged with a range of offences including burglary, aggravated burglary, theft of motor vehicle, theft, criminal damage and driving-related offences.
The charges relate to alleged:
– burglaries and thefts from sporting clubs in Strathdale and Mooroopna; a business in Flora Hill; service station in Quarry Hill; post office in Marong; and residential addresses in Longlea and Elmore
– petrol thefts in Axedale and Rochester
– thefts of motor vehicle in Mooroopna, Echuca and Elmore
– thefts from motor vehicle in Rochester
– aggravated burglary in Girgarre
– deceptions in Rochester
– burglary in Nanneella
– criminal damage in Echuca
– and bail and driving-related offences
The man has been remanded to re-appear at Echuca Magistrates’ Court on 19 November.
