A man has been charged with several offences following a serious crash at Derwent Park last night.
About 11.15pm police observed a black Ford Falcon sedan allegedly driving dangerously near the intersection of Derwent Park Road and Brooker Highway at Derwent Park.
Police attempted to intercept the vehicle, however, the driver failed to stop.
A short time later the vehicle crashed into a power pole near the intersection at Main Road.
A 21-year-old man, who was seated in the front passenger seat, was transported to the Royal Hobart Hospital with serious injuries.
An 18-year-old man, who was a rear seat passenger, was also transported to hospital with non-serious injuries.
The driver of the vehicle, a 23-year-old man from Herdsmans Cove, was arrested and has been charged with evade police with aggravated circumstances, driving whilst his driver license is suspended, and dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm.
The vehicle was destroyed in the crash.
At the time of the crash, the road was wet due to adverse weather.
Police urge all drivers to slow down, obey the road rules, and drive to the conditions.
As is normal practice for a crash in close proximity to police, the Tasmania Police Professional Standards Unit has been advised.
