A man has been charged after stolen property, drugs and knives were located following a vehicle stop in Sydney’s south yesterday.
About 12.45pm (Wednesday 3 November 2021), officers attached to St George Police Area Command were conducting proactive patrols as part of Operation Omada – a high visibility operation targeting anti-social behaviour, drug and property offences – when they stopped a Hyundai Elantra on Kensington Street, Kogarah.
Police spoke to the driver, 40-year-old man, who participated in a roadside drug test, allegedly returning a positive result.
In a subsequent search of the vehicle, police allegedly located methylamphetamine, gamma hydroxybutyrate (GHB), five debit cards, three modified kitchen knives (approximately 18, 22 and 35cm in length), a butchers knife with modified grip, a computer monitor, a motorised bicycle, three perfume bottles, sunglasses, 99 decks of playing cards, a Fitbit watch, and 17 pieces of jewellery including pearl necklaces, gold rings, bracelets, and other break and enter implements.
The man was taken to Kogarah Police Station where he was charged with eight counts of goods in personal custody suspected being stolen (not motor vehicle), custody of knife in public place, and possess prohibited drug.
Police will allege that some of the items seized were stolen from earlier offences.
The Woolaware man was refused bail to appear in Sutherland Local Court today (Thursday 4 November 2021).
