A man has been charged following the stabbing death of another man in the state’s Central West earlier today.
Emergency services were called to a house on Romano Drive, Orange, just after 3am (Saturday 2 March 2019), after reports of a physical altercation between two men, who were known to each other.
On arrival, a 20-year-old man was found unresponsive with a stab wound to his chest.
Police performed CPR on the man; however, when NSW Ambulance paramedics arrived, he was declared deceased at the scene.
A second man fled the area in a Holden Commodore before officers arrived.
Officers from Central West Police District, with assistance from the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad, launched an investigation.
Following inquiries, a 26-year-old man was arrested after attending Orange Police station about 3pm today (Saturday 2 March 2019).
He was charged with murder and refused bail to appear in Orange Bail Court tomorrow (Sunday 3 March 2019).
