A man will face court today charged with alleged break and enter offences in Rutherford.
Between Sunday 21 July 2024 and Monday 5 August 2024, officers attached to Port-Stephens Hunter Police District received multiple reports of alleged break and enters at an over 55’s lifestyle village on Waterworks Road.
On Sunday 11 August 2024, police commenced an investigation into a break and enter at a home on Ballard Street, Maitland, where a wallet, keys and cards were allegedly stolen.
Following extensive inquiries, a search warrant was executed at a home on the New England Highway, Rutherford, on Sunday 18 August 2024.
During the search, police located and seized a number of items believed to have been allegedly stolen during the incidents.
Following further inquiries, police arrested a 29-year-old man in Rutherford about 6.20pm yesterday (Monday 19 August 2024).
He was taken to Maitland Police Station, where he was charged with three counts of aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence – people there, two counts of aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence – armed, and robbery armed with offensive weapon.
He was refused bail to appear before Maitland Local Court today (Tuesday 20 August 2024).
