A man has been charged for allegedly being in possession of a large number of offensive images in the states north.
About 2.30pm on Wednesday (5 February 2025), officers from New England Police District executed a search warrant at a home in Inverell where electronic equipment and storage devices were seized.
Following inquiries a 65-year-old man was arrested at the same home about 1pm the following day (Thursday 6 February 2025) and taken to Inverell Police Station.
Police will allege that over 500 images consisting of both child abuse and beastiality were located on the seized devices.
The man was charged with possess child abuse material and person possesses beastiality material.
He was refused bail to appear at Inverell Local Court today (Friday 7 February 2025) where he was granted conditional bail to reappear at the same court on Thursday 20 March 2025.
Investigations are ongoing.
