A man will face court today charged over the alleged sexual abuse of a child in Sydney’s south-west.
In March, detectives from the Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad commenced an investigation following reports a girl had been sexually abused numerous times by a man known to her between June 2017 and March 2019.
Following extensive inquiries, investigators arrested a 23-year-old man at Bankstown Police Station about 9.45am yesterday (Sunday 19 July 2020).
He was charged with seven counts of indecent assault person under 16 years of age, three counts of have sexual intercourse with person aged between 10 and 14 years and sexually touch another person without consent.
Police will allege in court that the man sexually abused the girl, then aged 10, at her home and at other locations.
The man was refused bail to appear at Bankstown Local Court today (Monday 20 July 2020).
The Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad is comprised of detectives who are specially trained to investigate matters against children and adults, including sexual assault, serious physical abuse, and extreme cases of neglect.
