A man will face court today charged with allegedly setting a Wollongong unit on fire earlier this month.
About 1am Friday 8 November 2024, emergency services were called to a unit block in Corrimal Street, Wollongong following reports of an incident.
On arrival, officers attached to Wollongong Police District found a 50-year-old man with burns to his hands, arms and feet.
He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Concord Hospital in a stable condition.
A crime scene was established, and an investigation was commenced into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Following inquiries, police arrested the 50-year-old man in Concord after he was released from hospital about 2pm yesterday (Friday 22 November 2024).
He was taken to Burwood Police Station where he was charged with damage property by fire/explosion less than $2,000.
The man was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court today (Saturday 23 November 2024).
