Police have charged a man in East Brisbane with 89 counts of property crime and drug offences following a two-month investigation on Brisbane’s southside.
Shortly after 8am July 19, police attended an East Brisbane address where a 40-year-old man was taken into custody for outstanding matters by the Dutton Park Property Crime Team and Riverside Tactical Crime Squad.
Police will allege over a two-month period the man targeted underground car parks, primarily in Kangaroo Point and South Brisbane suburbs, with the intention to steal from lockable cages.
It is alleged the man was in possession of an amount of GBL, cannabis, various drug utensils, stolen keys and a stolen gym pass when he was located.
A 40-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with multiple offences including 39 counts of fraud, 31 counts of enter premises and commit indicatable offence, five counts of enter premises with intent to commit indictable offence, four counts of stealing, two counts of enter premises with intent, several counts for drug related offences, and one count each of unlawful use of motor vehicle and receive tainted property.
He was remanded in custody and is expected to appear before the Brisbane Magistrates Court today, July 22.
Detective Inspector Rodney Watts said the successful arrest is the result of hard work and perseverance by investigating officers over the two-month period to locate the man.
