A 33-year-old Forest man has been charged with three counts of attempted murder, arson and family violence offences after an isolated incident at a private residence in Forest yesterday.
Police and emergency services were called to the property on Wednesday morning, following a notification from an electronic monitoring device.
Tasmania Fire Service was called to the scene shortly after noon after a fire started inside the home.
The fire was contained and the man – who was the sole occupant of the property – was taken into custody.
He was treated at the scene by paramedics for non-life-threatening injuries and taken to the North-West Regional Hospital for assessment.
He has since been charged with arson and three counts of attempted murder in relation to the fire, and actions he allegedly took against attending officers.
He has also been charged with five counts of breaching an interim family violence order.
No officers were injured in the incident.
The man was detained to appear in an out of hours court tonight.
