Police charge man with importing commercial quantity of cocaine

Joint Taskforce Icarus and Mill Park Divisional Response Unit have charged a man with importing a commercial quantity of alleged cocaine following the detection of the alleged drug by Australian Border Force earlier this month.

The 31-year-old man was arrested yesterday following the execution of three warrants in Reservoir, Epping and Preston about 1pm.

The Epping man’s arrest follows an investigation into the importation of allegedly 5.9kg of the illicit substance.

He has been charged with the Commonwealth offence of importing a commercial quantity of a border controlled drug which carries a maximum penalty of life imprisonment and is expected to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today.
