A teenager has been charged following a fatal crash in the state’s Central West.
Just after midnight on Sunday 24 March 2024, emergency services were called to The Gipps Way near Burcher, about 50 kilometres south of Condobolin, following reports of crash.
Officers attached to the Central West Police District attended and located a utility that had left the roadway and rolled.
The passenger, a 17-year-old boy, died at the scene.
The driver, an 18-year-old man, was treated for serious injuries by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being airlifted to Liverpool Hospital in a serious condition.
A crime scene was established as specialist police investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Following extensive inquiries by the Crash Investigation Unit, the driver was arrested today (Wednesday 9 October 2024) at Wagga Wagga Police Station where he was charged with dangerous drive occasioning death, negligent driving occasioning death, and drive with low range PCA.
He was given conditional bail to appear before West Wyalong Local Court on Thursday 21 November 2024.
A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
