A teenager has been charged after a man was allegedly robbed and assaulted in Tamworth earlier this month.
About 10.30pm on Friday 15 September 2023, a 32-year-old man was allegedly approached from behind by a group of youths while walking along Duri Road at Tamworth.
One of the youths allegedly punched the man to the back of his head, causing his prescription glasses to fall.
They stole the man’s phone and identification before fleeing.
Officers from Oxley Police District attended and commenced an investigation.
Following inquiries, police arrested a 16-year-old boy about 9pm yesterday (Saturday 23 September 2023) in Tamworth.
It’s alleged the boy struggled with officers during the arrest.
He was taken to Tamworth Police Station where he was charged with robbery in company, and resist police.
The boy was refused bail to appear at a children’s court today (Sunday 24 September 2023).
