Three men have been charged following an investigation into an assault in Gunnedah this week.
Just before 5pm on Wednesday (3 July 2024), four men approached a man exiting a supermarket on Little Conadilly Street, Gunnedah.
Police were told the four men followed a 20-year-old man to his car while they allegedly assaulted him before producing a large hunting knife.
The man’s brother waiting in the car attempted to intervene and was also knocked to the ground and kicked multiple times.
The group left a short time later, and the two men attended Tamworth Police Station to make a report.
Following inquiries, about 11.45am yesterday (Thursday 4 July 2024), police arrested two men – aged 18 and 23 – on Conadilly Street, Gunnedah, and he was taken to Gunnedah Police Station.
The two men were each charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company of other(s) and breach of bail.
They were refused bail to appear at Tamworth Local Court today (Friday 5 July 2024).
Following further inquiries, about 12.35pm yesterday, a 19-year-old man attended Gunnedah Police Station, where he was arrested.
The older man was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company of other(s), common assault, and armed with intent commit indictable offence.
He was given conditional bail to appear at Gunnedah Local Court on Tuesday 6 August 2024.
Police will allege in court the men are not known to each other.
Inquiries are continuing.
