Three people will appear in court today charged over the alleged kidnapping of two men in Sydney’s south- west.
Just before midnight on Saturday 4 November 2023, emergency services were called to a unit on Grazier Street, Lidcombe, following reports a 36-year-old man had been assaulted and forced into a vehicle.
About 11pm the following day (Sunday 5 November 2023), the man was found on Lower Washington Drive, Bonnet Bay, suffering facial injuries.
He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Sutherland Hospital in a stable condition.
Detectives from the State Crime Command’s Robbery and Serious Crime Squad established Strike Force Rowallan to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Investigations revealed the incident was linked to the alleged kidnapping of a 44-year-old man from a shop on Park Road, Regents Park on Friday 6 October 2023.
Detectives commenced an investigation under Strike Force Lutetium and the man was returned to his home the following day, suffering minor facial injuries.
Following inquiries, strike force detectives arrested a 30-year-old man at Bankstown and a 27-year-old man and 17-year-old boy at Regents Park last night (Friday 10 November 2023),
The older man was taken to Bankstown Police station and charged with two counts of take/detain in company with intent for ransom occasion actual bodily harm, conspiracy to take/detain in company with intent for ransom and knowingly direct activities of criminal group.
The younger man and teenager were taken to Auburn and charged with two counts of take/detain in company with intent for ransom occasion actual bodily harm, enter building/land with intent commit indictable offence, two counts of participate criminal group contribute criminal, two counts of be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner, conspiracy to take/detain in company with intent for ransom, and drive motor vehicle during disqualification period.
They were all refused bail, with the two men to appear at Parramatta Bail Court and the teen to appear at a children’s court today (Saturday 11 November 2023).
