Police Charge Two After Armed ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Invasion – Casula

Two men have been charged following an alleged armed home invasion in Casula earlier this month.

About 4am on Tuesday 8 October 2024, police were called to a home on Jockey Close, Casula, following reports of a home invasion.

Officers attached to Liverpool City Police Area Command were told five men – armed with pistols and a shotgun – drove to the home in a grey Nissan utility, which had been reported stolen, and forced entry to the home.

Residents in the home at the time were allegedly threatened at gunpoint and two people were restrained with cable ties.

The five men then allegedly left the scene, taking cash and jewellery.

A short time later, two men approached a motorcyclist nearby and allegedly threatened him with a firearm, before leaving on the motorcycle.

Police then located the utility travelling through Casula. The driver allegedly failed to stop when directed and a pursuit was initiated; however, it was terminated shortly after due to safety concerns.

NSW Ambulance paramedics attended the home and two of the residents were treated for minor injuries.

A crime scene was established, and detectives attached to State Crime Command’s Robbery and Serious Crime Squad commenced Strike Force Albal to investigate the incident.

Following further inquiries, strike force detectives located the utility in Austral. The vehicle and jewellery located in the vehicle were seized for forensic examination.

On Monday 21 October 2024, detectives from the Robbery and Serious Crime Squad, with assistance from the Tactical Operations Unit, attended a home on Kookaburra Drive, Gregory Hills.

Two men – aged 27 and 34 – allegedly ran from police before the 34-year-old man discarded a rifle on the roof of a neighbouring house.

The men were arrested nearby, and a search warrant was executed at the home.

Ammunition, cable ties number plates, drugs and four motorcycles were seized from the property which will undergo forensic examination.

The men were taken to Narellan Police Station where the 34-year-old man was charged with possess loaded firearm public place, special aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence-weapon, participate criminal group contribute criminal activity, drive motor vehicle during disqualification period and be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner.

The 27-year-old man was charged with possess loaded firearm public place, goods in personal custody suspected being stolen and drive motor vehicle during disqualification period.

The men were refused bail and appeared before Moss Vale Local Court today (Tuesday 22 October 2024.
