Two men have been charged following an investigation into an alleged armed robbery on an Eastern Beaches tobacco shop.
Just before 9.00pm on Tuesday 19 November 2024, police were called to the retail store on Anzac Parade, Maroubra, following reports of an armed robbery.
At the scene, police were told that a man entered the store before allegedly threatening a male employee with a knife, demanding money.
A second man remained outside the store, which police allege acted as a lookout.
The men left on foot with a quantity of cash.
There were no reports of injuries to any staff or customers.
A crime scene was established and detectives from Eastern Beaches Police Area Command commenced inquiries into the incident.
Following inquiries, about 10.30am today (Thursday 21 November 2024), police arrested a 31-year-old man at a unit in Flinders Avenue, Darlinghurst.
The man was taken to Surry Hills Police Station where he was charged with two counts of robbery whilst armed with an offensive weapon. The second charge related to an alleged armed robbery at Randwick on Friday 19 July 2024.
He was refused bail to appear before Downing Centre Local Court tomorrow (Friday 21 November 2024).
Following further inquiries, police arrested a 27-year-old man outside Maroubra Police Station. He was charged with one count of robbery whilst armed with an offensive weapon.
He was refused bail to appear at Waverley Local Court tomorrow (Friday 21 November 2024).
