Police Charge Two After Extended Follow In Tarneit

Police have charged two men after an alleged extended follow in Tarneit overnight.

Police observed an allegedly stolen White 2015 BMW travelling north bound on Sapling Boulevard in Truganina about 11.30pm on Wednesday, 5 June.

It’s alleged the BMW has been involved in significant offending since the car was stolen from Point Cook on 31 May.

With assistance from the Air Wing, the BMW was alleged to have been observed travelling at speeds of 150km/hr and 200km/hr throughout Truganina, Laverton North, Hoppers crossing and Point Cook utilising the Princes Freeway.

Officers were unsuccessful in their attempts to use stop sicks and the car continued to be driven erratically and at speed causing significant risk to the public.

A 19-year-old Truganina man, believed to be the passenger exited the BMW near Memphis Drive, Truganina before being arrested in Orlando Drive a short time later.

He was charged with theft of motor vehicle and bailed to Werribee Magistrates’ Court on 28 October.

Officers arrested a second man, an 18-year-old, about 4.30am in Hayden Street, Hoppers Crossing.

It’s alleged he was in possession of the stolen BMW.

The Hoppers Crossing man has been charged with:

– Reckless conduct endangering life

– Reckless conduct endangering serious injury

– Theft of motor vehicle

– Fail to stop vehicle on Police direction

– Drive whilst disqualified

– Aggravated burglary

– Obtain property by deception

– Theft of motor vehicle

– Handle stolen goods

– Possess controlled weapon

He will appear before the Sunshine Magistrates’ court later today.

It’s alleged the BMW was stolen from Leroy Street, Point Cook during an aggravated burglary on 31 May.

The investigation is continuing and detectives urge anyone with information to come forward.
