Police charge two after Hernes Oak collision

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives have charged two people after a collision in Hernes Oak earlier this year.

A male passenger was seriously injured after a car travelling along McGraths Track ran off the road and crashed into a tree about 10pm on Tuesday 7 April.

The 18-year-old learner driver is alleged to have fled the scene, before he was arrested in Rosedale several hours later.

The Rosedale man has been charged with 11 offences including recklessly cause serious injury, negligently cause serious injury, dangerous driving causing serious injury, reckless conduct endangering life and fail to render assistance.

He has been bailed to appear at the Latrobe Valley Magistrates’ Court on Friday 4 September.

An 18-year-old woman has been charged with three offences; attempt to pervert the course of justice, perjury and accessory to a serious indictable offence in relation to her alleged actions following the crash.

She has been bailed to appear at the Latrobe Valley Magistrates’ Court on Friday 4 September.
