Two people have been charged as part of an ongoing investigation, following a police operation at Liverpool this morning.
Officers from Liverpool City Police Area Command were called to Charles Street shortly after 2am (Monday 17 April 2023), following reports a gunshot had been heard.
Police established a perimeter around a block of units and called specialist officers to the scene including negotiators.
A 29-year-old woman was arrested about 2.15am, inside a Pantech truck parked on the street.
The operation ended about 5.40am with a further two women, aged 29 and 34, and two men, aged 39 and 43, arrested and taken to Liverpool Police Station.
A crime scene warrant was executed at the unit by local detectives, where items relevant to the investigation were seized.
Subsequent checks revealed the Pantech truck had been reported stolen. The truck was searched, where police located and seized two firearms, which will undergo forensic examination.
The 43-year-old man from Liverpool has been charged with two counts of possess shortened firearm (not pistol) without authority.
The 29-year-old Guildford woman was charged with goods in personal custody suspected being stolen (motor vehicle) and three outstanding warrants unrelated to the incident on charges of supply prohibited drug, novice driver drive with novice range PCA (two counts), P2 driver exceed speed > 10 km/h – Radar, and not display P plates.
The pair were refused bail to appear before Liverpool Local Court tomorrow (Tuesday 18 April 2023).
The three remaining people were released pending further inquiries.
